Medical Imaging Lighting

MRI Room Lighting Design Requirements:  How Many Lights are needed in an MRI Room?

A typical MRI room is approximately 20' x 27'.  The minimum lighting requirements for this room is 30fc, or a total of 16,200 Lumens.  This basic design requirements  is set forth in the VA MRI Design guide, April 2008. VA MRI Design Guide.  The nova Max Lumen Lighting System ( MXLumen22-E-36-41-MRI) provides 3300 lumens per fixture.  The prescribe solution for this room is a lighting system of 8 Nova 2x2 lights, for a total of 26400 Lumens, or 50 fc with integral dimming.  The additional light in the room is desired for patient and staff saftey, including IV or other procedures that are common in the room.

Nova MaxLumen MRI Room Lighting System Design, Testing, Quality, and Installation:

The Uniqueness of the Nova Imaging Suite Lighting System starts with the design: It was designed by medical imaging engineers with experience on thousands of MRI projects.  The other manufacturers of MRI lights focus soley on the light fixture and ignore the other major components needed for MRI installations.  The Nova MRI Imaging Suite Lighting System is a complete system of high end architectural lights (flat panels, down lights, wall sconces, RGB color changing lights) and shielded preterminated MRI cables, single filter Class 2 power distribution, LED power supplies, and controls.  Together all of these items make an end-to-end plug and play system that is fast to install, eliminates common installation errors, and provides long term performance needed in the MRI room.

The Nova Imaging Suite Lighting System has been tested at a MRI testing lab to ensure that it meets the requirements setforth by the MRI industry.  Each component of the system is tested to UL standards and listed to the appropriate specification.

Our MRI lighting system has been installed on hundreds of projects across the globe over the past 5 years, with a flawless record.

MRI Emergency Lighting:

As an option to the MRI lighting system, Emergency battery back up can be incorporated into the control system.  The MRI Emergency Lighting turns 2 lights on in the room, whenever there is a power outage.  The battery provides a full 100% light output for 1 hour.  When a power failure occurs, the Emergency power senses the fault, and turns the 2 light fixtures on to full brightness- whether the control switch is ON/OFF or dimmed.
